Just a Quickie.

We made a mad-dash to Kanab this weekend for the Western Legends Round-Up festival. In precisely 12 hours we were able to cover eveything that was going on at the festival, enough to create a riotous hour TV show about it. The best part was that because the boss was out of town, we had to 'host' this show. What a spectacular time. 3 guys with 2 cameras no guidelines, no rules and one full hour of air-time. Sweet Manna!

Like a renegade team we would pull up to an event or display and it was "Go Time!" mics flying cameras swinging, and cracking the jokes. Kanab hasn't seen anything this funny since the cowboy poetry humour recitings. You are going to want to see this show. and though it will be jovial and light, it will leave you thinking.."Hmm.. Maybe I'll take the family down to the Festival next year..."
I'm actually very excited about the post production of it & hope it gets done soon. (I'll be the one doing it. :))
People I met, interviewed;
Brenn Hill
Denny Miller
Ruth Buzzie
several Cowboy Action Shooters
and more!

Now at the start of a new week. We have much to produce much more to shoot and ten times that much to edit. (*sigh*)

The Latest.

It's been an entire week since the last entry, that's eons in the blogosphere. But not much has happened. I'll break it down briefly...just so we're all on the same widely-cultivated genus of flowering plant, which got its name from the French.

I took over the boss's desk/office this week, as he was out on vacation, probably his first in 15 years. Nothing really changed around the office. :) I still directed the production, it all got done and then some.

Tomorrow three of us are heading to Kanab to the Western Legends Round-Up Festival. It seems the boss promised the county that we would produce AN HOUR LONG SPECIAL !!! about one of their events! That is easily a weeks worth of work. Nevermind that we are already producing two shows a week! So we get to spend less than 24 hours in a little town nearly 5 hours away, to produce an entire show with as little production as possible. This will be interesting.

Other than that a friend of ours invited us to Acapella-fest, that will be delightful (if I get back from the Festival in time). I dig the good ole Ho-Hummin Hootin'. it should be good.

No More Please.

I still didn't get to finish that piece, I was interrupted a few times for similiar side projects. From now on...when someone says... "I don't know what format I need.." I will tell them "Find Out! then I'll do it." that should save me some heartache. Yesterday they asked for copies of thier ad to stream online. not a problem. I said I can give you .MOVs and MP4s. those are pretty common. They said that was great... I even gave them broadband and Dial Up versions. But today they called up and said "the tech guy says he can only stream .WMVs that are 320x240." again not a problem...EXCEPT I COULD'VE DONE THEM YESTERDAY! had you known what you needed. So I didn't finish the piece, I left it for an intern to finish. Who knows how it will turn out.
Now I'm done venting. Peach is off to have dinner with old HS friends. So I'm going to mow the lawn. after I play some XBOX, I just got a new RPG called Morrowwind, (Elder Scrolls). It looks promising.
and I just picked up our, once filthy, now sort-of clean, beasts. They're cute but still shedding like no other. So they went straight outside.
Repetition.

On Tuesday, I rode Jet-skis on Cutler Reservoir. That was a lot of fun. The challenge was that usually when we go out with a sponsor, we 'follow' their family or employees, on a trail or to a lake, and that's the story. But this time it was only me & Tracy, co-owner of Dick's Boat Shop. Luckily we found a family that frequented the reservoir. They were from Mendon, and spend one day a week on the water. They were very helpful, doing interviews and riding around on Tracy's Brand New PWC's. (They loved that, they only had some little kawasaki's from 10 yrs ago.) So, the story will turn out fine. If I ever get to edit it.
Yesterday 2 different side projects, came or called to say they didn't get what they needed. So I spent prbly a total of 3hrs away from this story to re-do silly things. AND when I got in this morning... one of them had to be re-cut because somebody (Turtle & Father Time) mentioned boats in the AD for an RV show. The kicker is that the guy, Weiner Jones, actually sat down and watched the spots with me yesterday! Was he not listening/looking?!
So NOW, I get to work on my Jet-ski story. ARRRGGGHH!

Well Done!

Well, it's over and it went swimmingly! Our bands were top-notch, the guests were exciting and technically the crew stepped up to the plate! and what's more, my sweet peach cleaned the house while I was gone. :)

Now were off to look for a can roller for the pantry.

My stolen day.

I awoke today with plenty to do and plenty of time to do it. I needed to work in the studio for our new TV show '15 minutes', set up all the audio cables and mixers, make sure the Piano got delivered, work with the rented Video Switcher. Then hopefully I would have time to go downtown and hand out show tickets at the Gateway...or somewhere.
ALAS...after I exited the shower, I felt a little queasy & weak. I laid down briefly, and then came down stairs, figuring some breakfast might get me going. I ended up resting again on the floor for another half hour. In Summation, after losing breakfast and more, I called in sick. I didn't want to do it...There was too much on the line! but, even if I forced myself to drive in to work and get this stuff done...I prbly would not have had the strength or health to direct the show tomorrow. So I sacrificed today for tomorrow. :(

I feel a little better now at 9pm. But because I don't know what got done today I get to go in at 7am just to make sure everything is ready. With that said, we have a really great line-up tomorrow!

EPISODE 6-
  • Parasailer - Bill Heaner
  • Boy Scout with 130+ Merit Badges Dallin Manning
  • Pianist - Kevin Burdick (kevinburdick.com)
  • Private Investigator - Mark Nosack
  • Race Car Trainer - Dan Mckeever MMSP

EPISODE 7-
  • Jeff Tobey - Glass mosaic Artist
  • Dan Paulus - Magician
  • Guest Artist - The Brobecks (brobecks.com)
  • Paul Tanner - Prosthetic creator
  • Harley Davidson of SLC

We will have Harley's, Parasails, Mustangs, fake plastic body parts, a straight jacket, and a Sweet Grand Piano, all in our studio at some point in time tomorrow. These will be great shows! (if ABC4, the Hive 4.2, ever airs them at the proper time, that's a whole other story.)

So at present, after a pleasant walk around the subdivision on our HOA pathway. We are enjoying a few minutes outside with the mosquitos and our girls. There's a delightful thunderstorm down south, providing a delightful light show.

Other things I've failed to yet mention:
  • Our entire lawn is browning because we have no water pressure, and I no nothing about sprinklers. In Bako, Jorge, Guadalupe, Juan and Amigo...took care of all of that.
  • We painted our dog's house red. It's officially 'home'.

Our little Paradigm Shift,

Well, We done did it. We've (I've) been calling our baby In Utero, Zanzibar, for a couple months. I thought it was a great name, but now we've got to find a new one.
We're having a baby girl! according to the Ultrasound. I've been thinking 'baby boy' for so long, that it still sounds a lilttle wierd. I'll post some pictures of our angel, tomorrow.
After our appt. we went up to Babies 'R' Us to look at cribs and all the hundreds of things one needs for a new baby, and realized we needed more money. So we went to Olive Garden for lunch. Here's a list of names that haven't stuck.

Twinkie face, Star, Zuppa, Jasper, Liza, Hazy, Barbizan, Wocket in my Pocket....
As you can see...we're having a tough time.. I'm still lobbying for Peanut Butter Tyler.
When we settle on one, we'll let you all know.

Peach is making homemade Salsa from our Mini-garden of tomatoes.

I was able to get my neck cricks all fixed, cause a neighbor lady and friend of the family knows all sorts of good stuff about where and what to adjust. She's a sweet little lady, probably no more than 5'2", and about as light as a feather...But man! Oh man! can she apply the pressure. I was hearing pops and clicks from every which part. What a difference it made :)
Much better than the $45 I spent on a professional Massage.. granted that was for muscle relaxing...and it did feel really good, it just didn't fix the crick.

Well this coming week holds many surprises...stay tuned.
On Wed. we find out if our bun in the oven is going to be Zanzibar Buck-Buck McFate.
or Zanzibar Bick-Bick McFate-ette.
I have lots of editing to finish for Fifteen Minutes Epi 2 & 3.
And lots of calls to make for the line-up of Episodes 6 & 7, which we shoot on Sat.
again stay tuned.

Listening to: Moonpools & Caterpillars.

Our ride on Thursday was tremendously beautiful! We rode with the guys in charge of putting on the San Jaun Safari this year, The Hoggards. Carl & I spent all day following and taping them as we rode through desert, aspens, scrub oak, Ponderosas and more. the Vistas from the Shay Ridge were awe inspiring, I wish we could've ridden more trails on friday.
But alas the show had to go on, so we all pitched in and got'er done.
Steve was craving Hot chocolate chip cookies, so I obliged, we used the oven in the office for the first time I've ever known. Once the show was pretty much done, I turned my attention to 'Fifteen Minutes'. This next set of shows, could be super stacked, or it could be a flop. It depends on our guests.. and sales.

Somehow I got a crick in my neck, so I've been in pain most the day. I even went as far as too get a last minute massage at the Day Spa... $45 for 25 min. of rub down. Gwen did a great job and I hoped it would ease the crick. Nope. still hurts there.. Anyone know a good Chiro?

Tomorrow we're going to Evanston for a nieces Baptism. I'm looking forward to grilling some fat meat! maybe our Fryer Chicken will get the fancy Russian Mustard treatment.

I'm working on the fifteen minutes site as I await sleep. (helped along by 2 Tylenol sleep aids.)

Good Morning,
Thus begins a mini-blog. I haven't found a good reason to keep a blog but...every one else is doing it, so it must be cool. (I also wore parachute pants in the eighties.)

I am in the great little town of Monitcello right now, just waiting to ride some ATV trails for work. Yes, I get paid to ride. sometimes. I usually break something, everytime I get on a motorizedrecreation vehicle...Not something of mine, just some plastic fender here or there.
Well the continental breakfast is waning quickly, I'm sure. I must go get some sustenance.

the end.
