Checking in.
I think we've begun to settle. So now is about a good as time as any to fill you in. We sold the house in Kaysville and bought a townhome in Spanish Fork. We were able to move in mere days before school started.
Overall its been a wonderful thing.
  • The house is smaller so it's easier to keep clean.
  • The commute is shorter so we have more time in the day.
  • Our jobs are fun; and a nice change from the last 6 years. Quite refreshing!
  • School is challenging (for once).
  • We found homes for our sweet dogs. finally!
  • and Cambria is as cute as ever, crawling up & down stairs, and getting new teeth.

I'm sure there's much more I could elaborate on, like my Thesis topic, school in general, our crazy ward, side projects, our gourmet meals, etc..
but I'll do that in another 4 months :)

Cambria Turns 6 Mnths & We're Gonna Be Cougars.

Cam turned 6 months old on Thursday! Last week we took her with us to Jackson Hole and Island Park, Via Yellowstone. It sure made for a different flavor of vacation, but still quite satisfying. We took pictures of her everywhere, which you can entertain yourselves by viewing them here.
Stacey bought the cow swimsuit at a yard sale for 50 Cents a couple months back. Cambria is a born swimmer! she loved the water, she tried everything, but excelled at the backstroke. She didn't make a peep until we pulled her out. Earlier we had wandered around JH and found the perfect hiding place for our munchkin.

Cam is doing wonderfully, We enrolled her in a research program for Acid reflux. (she could've given Vesuvius a run for it and was more constant than Ole Faithful.) The medicine is basically the childrens version of pantoprazole. It's worked wonders. Which has changed her whole demeanor, she's much happier, as are we. ;)
She's starting to sit up a little and getting ready to crawl... very exciting stuff! Did we mention she's so darn CUTE! We love our little Cam!
('Bam Bam' as Drew calls her..(yes I know pebbles was the girl and BamBam was a boy. but it's so fun to say "Oops! BamBam went BoomBoom in her shorts!")

As for the rest of us... Exciting things are afoot. Drew was finally notified officially that he was accepted into the Grad program at the 'Y'.
He put in his last official days with At Your Leisure this past week, and did a final shoot today. They actually gave him a little breakfast goodbye on Fri. complete with decorated donuts that said "Good Luck Drew" How very sweet! He will miss them...most of them...three of them. An extra bonus is that BYU called while were on the Teton/Island Park trip, and offered Drew a full time staff position for the rest of the summer just doing production type things, installing servers, and a new automatic directing system called 'Ignite'.
(Sounds cool, but you gotta wonder about a company that gives their computer equipment a name that sounds like it's already going up in flames.)

Eventually he'll be working on some video elements for the BYU daily student newscast.
When school starts in Sept. he'll be spending some time each day with the students helping them shoot and edit and directing. This Fall will be the the Daily News' return to KBYU. They haven't been on KBYU for like 6-7 years.
This is the perfect gig for Drew while getting his Masters in Communications. Another delicious carrot for our move is that they are hiring Stacey to be PartTime Faculty, helping out on the editorial side of things. So things are looking good, the only puzzle piece left is housing. It'll all work out.
Drew will be freelancing through school to supplement the income, so if you or anyone you know needs some sweet Video production... he's your guy!
Did you look at the cute pictures of Cam yet? Here's the link again just for you!

Busy Month
We've listed the house, and are hoping that we can get enough for it to afford the move to Happy Valley. I am yet to hear an official acceptance from the 'Y' for getting in their Grad program, but word on the street is that's it's on it's way. We've also put on offer on a townhome in Happy Valley, that has a great location. Here's hoping it all works out. (Cause if it doesn't I'm taking out an $80,000 loan and starting my own tv show.)
This is going to be a tough adventure, moving the first time was easy, but now with Cam, it's a whole new world.

It's Been Too Long....
Well a full disclosure would take far too many precious bits & bytes. So suffice it to say that many poles are in the water.
We came to the ever-looming realization that with out more dough, we'd have to sell the house. It's simple math.
So we've looked at many ideas and directions and tossed many a line in the water. Some lines are still hanging in the water...and some sank long ago. Only one is solid at this point. and it requires a move into a land in which we vowed we would never reside. Happy Valley.
Really if we were less cautious and a little more adventurous we'd take a little equity from the house and get enough dough to run my own television production company for the next year. then we could stay right here where we're happy and work my tail off.

Update

We took a sweet Saturday trip to Antelope Island. It was breezy, but a nice sign of Spring. It's a spectacular view from our back windows, so we figured it was high time we went there. Cam looked so cute, all bundled up so I took some fun shots of her. We had wanted to take video so we could post another movie of her... but the batteries were dead.

I'm still waiting patiently to hear back from the Starfish network.

If nothing materializes soon, we'll be packing up and shipping out. Colorado, Nevada...somewhere relatively close.

The last day of February.

I've gotten tired of the bus. I've been on this bus since July '05, when I re-boarded the bus as the mechanic and the co-driver. The last time I was on this bus I was pretty much the only passenger, just along for the ride.

This time around I'm at least navigating, or attempting to. I've learned a lot and made the bus a little more comfortable for all.....but Long metaphor short...,.,.932lw9j;sdjg//////denmjgfl.........slilkj.///.....we/.........//

More from our 'web-Cam'
Well It's high time we showed you some more pics of our precious babe. She's officially 3 days from being 2 months old. For Valentines Day Stacey snapped some shots of our little one in some of our favorite outfits. She then gave me a frame w/ 3 pictures of her and Cam. It's perfect for my office, so I can see them all day!

These are of Cambria's blessing dress, That Drew's Mom made. Simply Exquisite...

Some cute duds. The polar outfit was from our thoughtful friend Lynda H. from Bakersfield.
So cute!

This is Drew with his Protégé. He thinks she'll be editing with him by the time she's five.

Well, I got a new dictation program

Since I spend quite a bit of time in the car, I wanted to talk to my computer so I could be productive for the two hours I'm driving, instead of listening to sucky (mind numbing) Utah Radio... Guess I need to practice.. This is what it thought i said.

The Daily Grind
I wanted to complain & vent a little about stuff at work, i.e., Turtle & boss man, two of the worst communicators in the communication business...

However, I think instead I shall muse on what a great job I have. Each week we get to make a delightful TV show that promotes family recreation. At Least once a week I get to dive into editing a story about some form of recreation. I love editing! for the past 5 yrs+ It's been the perfect hobby. Creative, Fun, Rewarding, Challenging and a pure delight! I'm very critical of the stuff I cut, and I always have changes I'd lke to make after it airs, but there are always deadlines.
The other part of my job I enjoy is the shooting, sometimes. I enjoy the activities. I'm not a big outdoorsy kind of guy, I love the outdoors, but I don't often 'play' in it. For work I've been able to go Paragliding, Wakeboarding, ATVing, Jet-Skiing, Snow-Skiing, Snowmobiling, and more! You can't beat that...plus I'm getting paid to do it!
There are the weekly struggles and many hadaches that come from 'managing' the office, and too often I let them get in the way of enjoying what I do. I never dread going in to work on Monday. While most people only think about work when they have to, from 9-5, I'm the opposite. In fact, I probably think about and talk about work too much. :)
I'm guess I'm just a lucky So-&-So.

Playing in the Beach Basement

Jammin on the Beach In an effort to get out of the house and enjoy some good times, I opted to visit the good ole boys of yesterday. They get together every so often and play cover songs for fun. I used to take every opportunity to see them play back in the college days. They still rock! One of them sends out emails to the others in advance with all the songs & their parts to practice, then they spend the day playing around. Though I only stayed for less than an hour, it was a delight! I only wish I could've captured the real sound, rather than the mini-mic of my Canon Elura 100. (Although that still impressed me.) I hope to stop by next time they jam too. Maybe I'll bring my wax paper and a comb, so I can join in. :)
Here's some shots of them playing 'Alright' by Supergrass.

30 Birthday Cream Puffs

I wanted to make my own birthday cake for my 30th Birthday. I settled on a recipe for Cream puffs, making everything from scratch...the Puffs, The Lemon Curd, and the Cream. They didn't turn out too bad. But making the Curd on Thursday (my birthday) the Puffs on Friday and then finally assembling them on Sunday (New Year's Eve)... left them a little stale, but still surprisingly delicious!
I wanted to play with our new camera, so I put together this Video to the Tune of Robot Rock- Daft Punk.
It was shot and editied in 'widescreen' but I haven't gotten it to export that way yet.

Of course with the addition of our new precious baby girl, My 30th birthday was unforgettable!
